How to Make a Glitter Epoxy Floor

gold glitter floor

Glitter floors look awesome, and are a great specialty to add to your offerings. Read a little about finding your specialties here.

There are a couple of ways to go about making a glitter floor- depending on what you want the final results to look like (floor color, type and color of glitter).

A little about colors: If you’re able, you should experiment with epoxy colors and types of glitter in small sections. You can only guess at what different sizes and colors of glitter will look like once they are actually on the floor.

  1. Apply the epoxy.
  2. Sprinkle glitter over the epoxy while it’s still wet. Spiked installation shoes will come in handy!
  3. Allow the epoxy to cure for 24 hours.
  4. Finish with a clear coat. Mix the glitter directly into Part A of the clear coat before you add Part B. This will give you more time to slowly add the amount of glitter you want. Remember, once you combine Part A and B the chemical reaction begins. You don’t want to have less time to apply the epoxy because you spent X amount of time getting the amount of glitter you wanted in the mix right.
  5. Sprinkle glitter over any areas that you feel need more.

Good luck!

  1. what type of glitter can be used for the epoxy flooring , don’t know if the epoxy will eat into the glitter any help would be great thank you

    1. Hi Adam,

Any kind of craft glitter will work just fine! We’ve had the best results with “micro” or very fine glitter. It looks much better when finished and can be mixed directly into the liquid epoxy.

Thanks! Let us know if you have more questions.

    1. Yes, we recommend sanding the area prior for proper adhesion. Also our product MuscleLock is great for vinyl floors and glitter can be added.

  2. Can you make porcelain Matt floor tiles glittery ? I got mine in Matt grey but now my house looks too dull and dark , really want some glitter in them? Could they have like a clear resin over them with silver glitter is that possible?

    1. Yes, you will want to sand the existing surface prior to applying the MuscleGloss 100% solids epoxy. This will provide you proper adhesion between the surface and the epoxy. You can add glitter into the mixture of the clear coat this will certainly brighten up the area, what color were you looking to use? Allow 24 hours for the product to cure before returning the area to normal use.
